Our Founder and CEO

Rachael Hall

is a multi-award-winning financial adviser, Amazon No. 1 bestselling co-author, speaker, and CISI Certified Financial Coach. She is widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading experts on the NHS Pension Scheme.

Rachael began her career at the British Medical Association Services (BMAS) and now leads her own advisory firm, where she has built a national reputation for her deep expertise in complex pension taxation and the intricate rules affecting NHS scheme members. Her specialist knowledge is frequently called upon in legal settings, where she serves as an expert witness in pension negligence cases.

Consistently recognised for her excellence, Rachael has been voted a VouchedFor Top Rated Adviser every year from 2019 to 2023, and again in 2025 after having a career break. A passionate advocate for tax-led and sustainable investing, Rachael is committed to helping healthcare professionals make confident, values-aligned financial decisions and maximise the benefits they’ve worked hard to earn.

How has Rachael Hall helped you?

Rachael (and her excellent Team) strove tirelessly in the background to resolve my figures with the NHS and PCSE. At times it felt like little was happening but every few months she would give me an update which clearly showed she had made significant progress and information started appearing from NHS BSA suggesting my Pension figures were becoming more transparent. However, Rachael showed her true worth in remarkable fashion as the Pension was just about to complete. During the application process I was unlucky enough to develop a significant and serious illness. I contacted her to tell her this news not expecting her to do anything with it other than commiserate but she immediately noticed that I could make a Tier 2 ill-health claim on the 2015 part of my Pension (my 1995 Pension would continue as an age-related normal Pension claim at age 60y), and this led onto the Tier 2 ill-health claim being converted to a Terminal Illness Benefit rather than a Pension. The end-result is that I now have a lump sum (rather than a Pension) which is of far greater value than my simple 1995 Pension and does not end upon my death. Although I gain nothing material from this I now have the peace of mind of knowing for definite that my Wife and Son will be well financially secure following my demise, and being able to look at actual sums of money means that my Wife will be able to take further financial advice with a degree of security that she may not have had before. I was very impressed by Rachael’s actions over the above and I do wonder if anyone else would have noticed this - which would have meant I would have received a much lesser amount.

The Next Steps

STAGE 1. ONBOARDING

You’ll receive a link to our secure portal, where you’ll complete a financial and retirement planning questionnaire. This helps us understand your current financial position and goals. You can upload documents and follow an online checklist to ensure all necessary information is provided. You’ll also select retirement scenarios, and we can tailor a bespoke strategy based on additional details you share.

STAGE 2. DUE DILIGENCE

We request your service record from the NHS Pension Scheme to check for misreporting errors and understand how you’re being superannuated. Any issues will need to be corrected to ensure data accuracy. Using this and the information you’ve provided, we conduct a detailed assessment of your pension arrangements to reconcile our calculations.

STAGE 3. BUILDING YOUR PLAN

After completing our research, we upload your initial reports to the portal and begin crafting your retirement plan. You’ll book a planning meeting to review findings, discuss chosen scenarios, and explore strategies. We may suggest alternative approaches that better align with your financial goals.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Retirement Programme is time limited – we will formally disengage our service after you have had the planning meeting. You can select 5 scenarios at outset to explore, and any further reports will become chargeable after 3 months of the date of the NHS Pension Calculation Reports. You will have 8 weeks to book an appointment from the date the report is issued. We reserve the right to formally disengage our service if you do not book your appointment within this timescale.

Ad-hoc reports can be available for purchase outside of agreed numbers and these timescales at a cost of £650 per report.

Ad-hoc consultations are chargeable at £550 per hour (non-membership clients).

We do not work to pre-set timescales and follow an evidence-based due diligence process. We will not deviate from this process if asked.

No financial product recommendations will be included within the reports. We generally do not support opting out of the NHS pension scheme to simply reduce the impact of Annual Allowance taxation, but we will illustrate the effect of opt outs within the scope of the report, especially for those members impacted by tapering.

“Embark on the journey to your dream retirement with confidence. Our financial services pave the way for a future where every horizon holds the promise of new beginnings and endless possibilities.”

Understanding the Difference

Financial Coaching vs. Planning vs. Regulated Advice

When it comes to navigating your financial journey, it’s important to know who you’re working with, and what kind of support they offer. Here’s a clear breakdown of the different types of financial guidance available, so you can choose the right path for your needs:

Financial Coaching: Empowerment Through Education

Financial coaching is about transforming your relationship with money.

It’s supportive, empowering, and it's often focused on mindset, habits, and the practical day-to-day decisions.

What it includes:

  • Building financial confidence

  • Identifying emotional patterns around money

  • Creating budgeting and debt reduction plans

  • Setting goals and building lasting habits

Good to know: Coaches are not FCA-regulated and won’t recommend specific financial products. Instead, they help you feel more in control and confident in your money decisions.

Financial Planning

Strategy & Structure

Financial planning takes a broader view of your life and finances. It involves creating a strategy to help you meet your short-term goals and long-term aspirations, whether that’s buying a home, planning for retirement, or for managing your intergenerational wealth.

What it includes:

  • Cashflow forecasting

  • Retirement/lifestyle planning

  • Tax planning strategies

  • Risk assessment and protection planning

Good to know: Some planners are also regulated advisers, but not all. Always check if they can provide regulated advice or just general planning guidance.

Regulated Independent Financial Advice (IFA):

Personalised, Professional, and FCA-Approved

Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs) are fully qualified professionals who are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). They are legally required to act in your best interest and can recommend specific financial products tailored to your unique situation.

What it includes:

  • Investment and pension advice

  • Protection and insurance planning

  • Recommendations on regulated financial products

  • Ongoing advice & portfolio reviews

Good to know: This is the most formal and legally protected type of financial guidance. You can have full confidence that your adviser is working for you, not for a bank or provider.

How We Work

At Seven Medical, we honour the role each of these services plays in your financial journey.

While our core service may not provide regulated advice directly, we collaborate with a trusted network of qualified FCA-regulated Independent Financial Advisers through Seven Stars Private Wealth.

If you’re looking for personalised product recommendations, we’ll be happy to introduce you.

Whatever stage you’re at, building confidence, creating structure, or making key decisions, we’re here to help you feel clear, supported, and financially empowered.
